The clock is ticking; join us for a puzzle race! This event is for adults only – all team members must be 18 or older. All attendees must be on a team; we do not have space to permit spectators.
How will the competition work?
Teams of up to four adults will race against each other – and the clock – to complete a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle in 90 minutes or less.
What does the race look like?
There will be refreshments and puzzles! Teams of adults will compete in the Reference area of the main floor of the library. You may eat and chat – without distracting your opponents – while you puzzle and we will help you keep track of how much time you have left.
How does registration work?
Registration is required and opens Friday, August 14th. Each participant will fill out the registration form and let us know your name, how many people you are competing with, your team name if you have one, and whether you’d like to accept new team members to get your group up to 4. We will close the form at the end of the day on Friday, August 28th, to finalize team rosters.
What are the rules?
We will distribute puzzles and start the timer at 5:45pm. Each team will have until 7:15pm to work on their puzzle. We are not allowing any tools including but not limited to “spatulas” (paper, cardboard, or other implements used to pick up a completed section and move it into position) and sorting trays. Otherwise it is up to each team to decide how to start the puzzle and divide the work. Winners will be determined based either on time of completion or number of unassembled puzzle pieces when time runs out.
What are the prizes?
Each member of the winning team will receive a prize.
First place winners will receive a $25 gift card supporting a local business.
Second place winners will receive a $20 gift card supporting a local business.
Third place winners will receive a $15 gift card supporting a local business.
This is an after-hours event; participants may enter through either the Library’s Grand River doors or Clinton Street doors between 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm. DOORS WILL BE LOCKED AT 5:30 PM.
Please stay home if you are sick.
Entry is limited to registered attendees, registrants must be 18+.
Registrations open at 9:00am Friday, August 14, 2026
