315 E. Grand River Ave.
This building dates back sometime prior to 1912.
The overall Art Deco influence of this building is one of a kind to downtown Howell.
The Howell Theatre opened in December of 1928, and at that time was owned by the Schulte Amusement Company. In 1938 the Howell Theatre was extensively renovated by the Schulte Amusement Company. Renovations included spacious seating, new equipment and replacing the marquee. In 1956, they once again replaced the marquee as well as the canopy and updated the entrance.
Wisper- Wetsman Theaters acquired the theater in 1970 and ran it as the Howell Theatre Corporation.
The theater closed its doors and was placed on the market in December of 1998.
In June of 1999, the City of Howell acquired the theatre. Chandler Corp. purchased the building from the city, restoring it back into the Howell Theatre.
In 2014, Tyler DePerro became the new owner. He transformed the theatre through renovations and new updates, preserving what is known today as the Historic Howell Theater.
