Heart of Michigan’s 14th Anniversary & Annual Food Drive

A beloved Howell tradition is back for its 14th year—and it’s all for a great cause.

On Saturday, June 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Heart of Michigan will host its annual Gleaners Food Drive at their storefront at 203 W. Grand River in Downtown Howell. The goal is to fill an entire Gleaners truck with food and essential care items for those in need right here in the community.

Each year, this event brings together generous donors, local businesses, and compassionate neighbors to support Gleaners Food Bank. A Gleaners truck will be parked out front, and donations of non-perishable, non-expired items will be accepted all day long.

As a thank you, the first 50 people who donate 15 or more items will receive a gift bag filled with Michigan-made products. Donated items come from beloved local companies including Cherry Republic, Faygo Beverages, Motown Soup, Velvet Peanut Butter, Alden Mill House, Beach Treats, Hunters Healthy Dog Treats, Little Town Jerky, Pop Daddy Pretzels, Michigan Mittens, Michi-Gummies, Sofia’s Pink Greek Dressing, Bee Rex Apiary Honey, Smokey Michigan, and others.

Everyone who donates throughout the day can also enter to win special prize drawings.

This year’s event also marks Heart of Michigan’s 14th Anniversary. Visitors can enjoy a festive atmosphere featuring cake, samplings, and giveaways, all in celebration of a downtown business that continues to give back.

“This food drive helps raise awareness for the cause and provides a truck full of food and basic needs for people in need,” said Karen Wing, Owner of Heart of Michigan. “Our goal is to fill the truck, and we’re incredibly thankful to the companies that have partnered with us to make it all happen.”
